Family Business in Conversation is a unique interview series brought to you by Kelly+Partners, Australia's leading provider of family business audit and taxation services.
The series was initiated to share the experience and expertise of some of Australia’s leading family business owners. The Q&A style lunch will provide insights into a range of unique challenges which family businesses face.
Join Brett Kelly, Founder and CEO of Kelly + Partners, and Sean Garlick for a Q&A interview over lunch at Sydney’s superb ARIA Restaurant.
Sean Garlick has had an incredibly diverse career. After spending 13 years as a police officer while playing First Grade Rugby League, Sean opened the first Garlo’s Pies shop with his father and brother in 2001.
Garlo’s Pies is a phenomenal Aussie family business success story. Taking off beyond belief, they opened a further 5 stores over the next 24 months. By 2010, Garlo’s Pies were available in Coles Supermarkets and two years later were also available at IGA. In 2014, they began exporting to supermarkets in the UAE, Hong Kong and the South Pacific, in addition to launching their first international store, “Garlo’s Aussie Pie Shop”, in the heart of Westwood Village Los Angeles.

“Could I just thank you for a delightful lunch the other day at the Aria Restaurant. I found the session very useful from a networking perspective and from hearing from the state Minister about the Government's plans to make amendments to the Act. The interview style was very effective. As for the venue food and wine, they were excellent. Thank you to Kelly partners for taking the initiative in organising the series so please include me in the next one.“
“Great opportunity to listen to the Minister, share some excellent food & intelligent conversation - not to be missed!”
“Very enjoyable and informative event, great opportunity to be amongst industry leaders and peers”
“Thoroughly enjoyed listening to Brett's interview with the Minister on this familiar topic. The comfortable interview technique, as displayed in his insightful book "Business Owners Wisdom", means I am looking forward to seeing what new family business ideas/considerations Brett may initiate. The series of luncheons are a great initiative at a fabulous venue.”
